Description
Mesterolone, commonly known as Proviron, is an oral DHT-derived androgen with relatively low anabolic activity and stronger androgenic properties. It has historically been used medically in men with androgen deficiency and certain forms of hypogonadism. Unlike testosterone, mesterolone does not convert to estrogen, so it does not directly cause estrogen-related water retention.
Key features:
- Androgen support — historically used to address symptoms associated with insufficient androgen activity in men.
- Non-aromatizing — does not convert into estrogen.
- Low anabolic activity — it is not primarily used for building significant muscle mass.
- Androgenic effects — its activity is more androgenic than anabolic.
- Oral administration — taken orally rather than by injection.
- DHT-derived compound — structurally related to dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
- In non-medical bodybuilding contexts, it has been used for its androgenic and non-aromatizing characteristics, rather than as a primary mass-building compound.
